MPE also administers the Continuing Care Assistant Program and the Dementia: Understanding the Journey course. We are also the lead agency for HSP-Net.

Health Association Nova Scotia is also a joint sponsor of the Nova Scotia Health Employees’ Pension Plan. NSHEPP is one of the largest registered pension plans in Nova Scotia with assets exceeding $10 Billion. NSHEPP is one of the largest registered defined benefit pension plans in Nova Scotia. As of December 31, 2022, it services over 35,000 active members who work at 91 employers at over 150 sites across the province; over 15,000 pensioners who receive a monthly income from the Plan; and over 1,600 former employees who elected a deferred pension when they left employment.

Organizations must be a member of the Health Association in order to join competitive defined benefit pension plan, which offers its plan members and member employers a range of very attractive benefits of participation.

Additionally, we offer our members access to a range of expertise and support focusing on addressing system challenges; and, through our subsidiary, igility, we administer provincial programs for the entire Continuing Care and Disability Support Program sectors, irrespective of membership in HANS. Ultimately, as a trusted partner for health system solutions and services, we strive to work collaboratively with our members, government, and other health system stakeholders, to promote a high-performing, sustainable and integrated health system that meets the needs of Nova Scotians.

Membership Application

Once you become a member of the Health Association, you have access to our fee-for-service programs, expertise, and all the great benefits we have to offer.

Applications for membership are approved by our Board of Directors. The Board has established a policy that sets out the criteria it considers when assessing the suitability of an applicant for membership.
